Our Story

In 1993, a state transport bus took us to a point in Himachal Pradesh, exactly where we wanted to be—at the beginning. Our journey began with our flagship Banjara Camps in Sangla valley, and has taken us from the Himalayas to the eastern extremities of Arunachal Pradesh, and from Everest Base Camp to the jungles of Kenya and Tanzania. Over the last 3 decades, we’ve surrendered to and immersed ourselves in the cultures of the world’s highest mountains, crafting thoughtful journeys and stays that respect and celebrate the natural habitat. In 2020, we met a young nomad, and now a friend, who shared our passion for exploring nature off-the-beaten path. With Mohit’s leadership, Banjara Trails, our dedicated adventure travel vertical, was born. Together, we connected the remaining pieces of the cultural and geographical jigsaw, that is the Himalayas, and added new paths to the Banjara way of life. Pictured Above: Mohit Gulia

It has been a trip through many seasons, landscapes, and stories. Now, 30 years later, here we are again, standing at a beginning. The beginning of Banjara Experiences, our new home.

The Banjara Philosophy

5 things we know to be the secret of good travel.

Far from the city, deep in nature

We love the outdoors and we love the peace it has to offer. With each stay, adventure, and journey, we explore the outdoors wholly.

Quality and quantity

All our adventures are for small groups of 4 to 10 people, allowing us to control our impact and make sure everyone has a great time.

Once upon a time

We’ve spent years building relationships within local communities and creating travel stories that are true to their cultural cores.

With great power, comes great responsibility

We take the architectural integrity, ecology, heritage, and culture of our locations seriously and treat them with the respect they command.

Safety first, always

Safety can bring great comfort when you’re being challenged to push yourself. On all our adventures, we are sure to put safety on top.

Meet the Team

Our team’s hospitality and warmth is sure to make you forget the mountain chill!
