Cycle in the heart of Spiti — an arid Trans Himalayan kingdom nestled between Tibet and Ladakh. The region is best experienced at a slow pace, and this cycling tour immerses you, taking you through the unique confluence of the Tibetan, Buddhist, and Hindu cultures of this region. The destination offers rewarding views, but it’s the journey through the rugged mountains and dry desserts of Spiti to the picturesque and lush greens of Kinnaur that makes this tour one to remember for a lifetime.
Please Note: This cycling tour is challenging and not recommended for beginners.
1Arrive at Shimla and drive to Thanedar. Rest, acclimatise and explore local sights.
2Drive from Thanedar to Batseri Village in Kinnaur.
3Stay at Sangla and acclimatise by cycling to Chitkul.
4Cycle from Batseri to Pooh along the Hind-Tibet road.
5Enter the high-altitude region of Spiti by cycling from Pooh to Tabo—home to one of its oldest monasteries, built in 996 AD.
6Cycle in the Martian landscapes of Spiti as you journey through Tabo to Kaza.
7Explore the remote villages of Hikkim, Komic and Langza from Kaza. Cycle from Kaza to Chicham.
8Cycle to the highest point of your tour at Kunzum La and end the journey at Chandratal Lake.
9Drive from Chandratal to Kullu/Manali.
