Gemoor Khar Banjara

Jispa

Located in the Gemoor Estate just 3 kms short of Jispa, Gemoor Khar Banjara is the manor house of the erstwhile Wazirs (now the Thakurs) of Lahaul. Once a grand 5 storey structure with large stables, meeting halls, and more than 40 rooms hosting British officials, European travellers, and scholars, the manor was tragically destroyed in a massive earthquake that hit the region in 1986. Today, the manor house hosts modern travellers, introducing them to the Wazirs’ rich tradition of hospitality.

Mornings in Gemoor

Mornings in Gemoor

As you begin your day with a sight of towering snow-clad peaks, join your host on a walk along the Bhaga River through local farmland and see unique flora, fauna, and catch a glimpse of the elusive Snow Trout in the shallow waters. Take a ride on the Jhula to cross the river, and choose to walk towards Tino or Jispa, both offering breathtaking views of the mountains. Inform our team at least 24 hours in advance to arrange for the cabin to be pulled across the river and back. And after a winding walk, you can indulge in a well-earned picnic lunch by the riverside.
