The Great Lakes Trail is a newly unveiled gem for trekkers, having been off-limits until just a decade ago. This week-long alpine adventure showcases some of Kashmir's most breathtaking high-altitude lakes, framed by magnificent views of snow-capped mountains and dramatic ridgelines. While the majority of the trek is moderate, it does include a few challenging high passes and rocky sections. All in all a must-do trek for every avid trekker out there!
Please Note: One must be fit enough to cross high altitude passes.
1Arrive in Srinagar and unwind with an overnight stay at a charming hotel.
2Drive to Sonamarg and settle in for the night at a cozy camp in Shitkadi.
3Trek from Shitkadi to Nichnai, passing through the picturesque meadows of Shekdur.
4Trek from Nichnai to Vishansar, crossing the scenic Nichnai Pass along the way.
5Spend a day exploring the enchanting landscapes surrounding Kishansar and Vishansar, allowing for acclimatisation while immersing yourself in the serene beauty of the region.
6Trek from Vishansar to Gadsar, crossing the scenic Gadsar Pass along the way.
7Trek from Gadsar to Satsar, taking in the breathtaking vistas and diverse landscapes.
8Trek from Satsar to Gangbal, traversing the Zach Pass and immersing yourself in the stunning scenery of the region, including the serene waters of Nundkol.
9Trek from Gangbal to Naranag, where the trail weaves through lush landscapes and stunning vistas. Upon reaching Naranag, enjoy a scenic drive back to Srinagar.
10Fly out of Srinagar.
