The thrilling stream crossings and mesmerising iridescent blues of Takling La are a dream come true for outdoor enthusiasts
While Parang La has long been synonymous with the route between Spiti and Ladakh, Takling La, a parallel and more challenging high mountain pass at a height of 5,272 m on the west side of this trail, is largely undiscovered. Though both routes merge halfway, the climb to Takling La is more demanding, narrow, and almost non-existent in some sections, with shorter snow-laden stretches marked with long glacier walks.
